Description
‘The Thinker’ by Auguste Rodin (1840 – 1917).
Rodin’s first iteration of the instantly recognisable sculpture, ‘The Thinker’ was made around 1880. Though it was not until 1904 that the first full-scale sculpture could be viewed at the Salon des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Subsequently, twenty-eight different original variants of the sculpture were erected, in addition to a number of replicas, including one currently housed in Stockholm’s National Museum.
The production of this bookend was exclusively produced by Jan Lindqvist in connection with the National Museum’s exhibition The Thinker’s Body.
The conception and design behind our bookends stem from Swedish renowned industrial designer, Jan Landqvist and are made in the small town of Gnosjö in the south of Sweden.
